Duronto Express is a series of high-speed long-distance, non-stop source-to-destination trains operated and managed by Indian Railways. Bangla is an Indian language; in Bangla, "Duronto" means "non-stop", hence named "Duronto". The first Duronto train ran from Sealdah to New Delhi. The Duronto Express is among the fastest trains in India. At the start, ticket booking was not allowed on intermediate stations, but since 2016, it's been possible to book a train ticket at some decided stations. Dynamic fare pricing is applicable for all Duronto trains.
The first Duronto Express train, "12259 Sealdah New Delhi Duronto Express" started in 2009–10 between Sealdah and New Delhi, covering a distance of 1458 km in just 17 hours.
