You can book a normal ticket within 60 days, excluding the date of the journey.
When you select the date, it calculates 60 days from the selected date and shows the date of booking on which you can book the ticket for the selected date.
You have two options: you can book a train ticket either online through the IRCTC website or at the PRS counter.
For e-tickets, booking is permitted from 00:20 AM to 11:45 PM on all days of the week, including Sundays. Service hours are subject to change without any sort of prior notice. Opening-day bookings (before 60 days, excepting the journey date) will be available only after 8 a.m. for all classes. Please keep in mind that the advance-booking period for some intercity or daytime trains is still less than 60 days. In the case of e-tickets, tatkal booking for AC classes will start at 10 a.m., and booking for non-AC classes will start at 11 a.m.
PRS, or reservation counter, is open from 08 AM to 8 PM for general bookings, from 10 AM to 10.30 AM for AC, and from 11 AM to 11.30 AM for non-AC classes under tatkal bookings. On holidays and Sundays, it will remain open from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
